Why won't my GE dryer start?
A GE dryer that won't start most likely has a failed door switch, a blown thermal cutoff (which interrupts the control circuit on many GE models), or a failed start switch. A completely dark control panel indicates a power supply problem.

The most common cause. GE door switches can fail in the closed position — appearing to click normally but not making electrical contact.

GE's thermal cutoff interrupts the motor control circuit on most models when it opens, preventing any start.

Older GE models use a push-start switch or electromechanical timer. Either can fail.
